Patrick is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in private practice in Hobart. He is also a Visiting Cosultant to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie. Patrick received his basic medical training in Sri Lanka and did his post-graduate training at the Institute of Psychiatry in London and the Maudsley and Bethlehem Royal Hospitals. He was also attached to the Child Psychiatry Unit in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Patrick strongly believes in the need for a multidisciplinary team approach to the management of child and adolescent mental health issues and has been a strong supporter of the aims of the association from its inception. He recommends that CAMHS workers have a particularly important role in serving as advocates on children's issues. He encourages the need for more active work in the areas of early intervention and prevention of child and adolescent mental health disorders.
