Program Description The ACT Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service provides assessments of children and young people whose parent has a mental illness. The assessment will determine what their needs are and put appropriate supports in place to meet these needs. CAMHS will provide ongoing clinical services to those children and young people who have a moderate to severe mental health problem/disorder. All referrals are through a centralised CAMHS Triage service on 6205 1971. Consultation with this service is also available without making a referral.
Evaluation Information Statistical information is collected to record numbers of referrals and their presenting problem. All clients provided ongoing clinical services are evaluated against a set of outcome measures including the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire, HONOSCA and CGAS. Regular team and individual reviews are also conducted.
Evidence The 'program' as such is based on generally agreed good clinical practice in assessment and clinical interventions for a variety of mental health conditions.
