Footprints is a youth depression
awareness program, we are an information and referal service. We aim at educating youths
and the wider community about depression, removing the stigma of depression and getting
youth to talk more about their problems. To achieve these we run forums for the community
on depression, produce a brochure on depression and have a Footprints card. The card has
contact numbers on the front for people a youth can talk to if depressed or the youth can
give the card to someone they trust (because the hardest thing is to say "I need to
talk" or "I have a problem"). On the back is advice for the person they
give the card to.
We are currently operating on the
Mornington Peninsula (in Victoria) in 11 schools but are also expaning into central
Melbourne. We are exclusivly run by youth (under 24 years of age). |
