ABOUT ON FIRE !
ON FIRE ! are a group of volunteers who share a common purpose to promote the mental health and
well-being of young people living in Sydney (generally aged 9 & over), whose parents or siblings
have mental health issues.
This is achieved through a variety of peer support, life skills development, and leisure activities.
These activities are facilitated within a strengths-based, peer support framework. This provides young
people with opportunities to further develop their resilience.
The objectives of ON FIRE ! are to:
* To provide opportunities for young people to enjoy a sense of peer
support & friendship.
* To provide opportunities for young people to experience personal growth and learning.
* To provide opportunities for young people to make a positive difference in society.
* To serve as a catalyst & inspiration for others.
ON FIRE ! activities and initiatives include: Camps ; Peer Support Groups; Fun Day Outings;
Creative Expression Groups; Skills 4 Life Groups; Mental Health Learning Groups, FIRESIDE
Newsletter; www.communityservices.org.au/onfire; and a Coaching & Leadership Program (in development). ON FIRE !
is a not-for-profit community group, volunteer driven & community funded.
All costs are covered by ON FIRE ! supporters.
Activities are auspiced by partner organisations such as the Maroubra Police Community Youth
Club (PCYC) & the Rotary Club of Great Lakes Inc.
All leaders complete mandatory 'Working Working with Children' & PCYC documentation.
