COPMI Project Update - 10/06/2003Media coverageWhilst I was on holidays there was a great deal of media coverage in Australia of the issue of Children of Parents With A Mental Illness, including Dan Halloran's ABC television "Australian Story" feature, an "All In The Mind" Radio National broadcast (both highlighted in the AICAFMHA e-news) and an article in the Weekend Australian. These have all resulted in increased contact with the COPMI project by a range of individuals and organizations, which is great. Should you spot any relevant articles in your local media or hear about relevant radio programmes etc. I'd be grateful if you could let me know or send me a clipping as its helpful to know about the story or item people may be responding to. Many thanks. Website for workers - pilot testingSue Garvin and Tracey Kay have been hard at work whilst I've been away and the pilot website for people working with parents, families and children affected by parental mental illness is now in the final stages of development. Pilot testing of the site by a range of workers throughout Australia will commence later this month. The workers have been invited to participate in this important evaluation phase by members of the COPMI National Consultation Group and over 400 individuals are expected to be involved. Workers will complete online survey forms before and after their initial visit to the site and will be invited to complete another online survey in 2 months. Pilot phase participants will be able to access the website at anytime over the two month period. Many thanks to the National Consultation Group members who have responded to the call for recruitment of worker participants in the areas of General Practice, Mental Health, Education, Child and Family Health, Child Protection, Justice, Youth and Community and Early Childhood. I would love to hear back from anyone who may be able to assist with recruiting more participants in the Youth and Community Work and Early Childhood areas by Tuesday 17th June please.
