COPMI Project Update - 13/12/2002

Resource Development

In the last Update (29/11/02) I advised people of the early development of the booklet for adults with a mental illness who have children under 3 years, or who are currently pregnant or are considering parenthood. We have now also begun to draft the content of the pamphlet for families and will soon be engaging the services of a graphic designer to help give all our resources an appropriate 'look and feel' to appeal to our target audiences?children, young people, parents, service providers, families, etc. We have also been gaining more information from certain groups of service providers about what they would like to see on their page of the COPMI website. It's exciting to begin this phase of the project, following completion of the initial consultation stage.

Evaluation

Prof. Graham Martin and Research Assistant, Tracey Kaye, in association with their Evaluation Reference Group at the University of Queensland, have been busy designing a strategy for the evaluation of pilots of draft materials to be developed by the COPMI project. The range of pilots will involve every State and Territory in Australia in some way or other. If you or your group would like to be considered as a pilot site (or individual) for some of the materials we are developing, please let me know. We are particularly keen to hear from people living in rural and remote areas.

It is anticipated that the draft materials will be ready for pilot testing in April-May 2003 and that the evaluation will be complete by September.

Christmas New Year break

This will be my last Update before Christmas. The next Update is due to be placed on the site in mid January 2003.

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your support of the COPMI Project in 2002, and wish you all a safe and happy holiday period and all the very best for 2003.
