ON FIRE! website

Nickolas Yu has advised us that the ON FIRE! website is up and running at www.onfire.be .
Visit the site for information about ON FIRE!, which promotes the mental health & well-being of young people living in Sydney (generally aged 9 & over), whose parents or siblings have mental health issues. Don't forget to give them some feedback about their site.

Consultations

Phil Robinson was in Brisbane recently for the Youth In Mind Conference of the Australian Divisions of General Practice Forum. Verity Newnham kindly assisted him in to run a consultation session there with about 15 GPs from across Australia, who gave feedback on their perceptions of COPMI needs and on what information they would like to access to assist them in offering improved services to families where a parent has a mental illness.

I will be attending the AAMHI/NIFTeY Conference in Sydney later this week and will be running a workshop with and for workers in the peri-natal and early years area. I have also been invited to run a session to follow the launch on the 18th November in Melbourne of the Evaluation Report of the High Risk Infants Service Quality Initiatives project of the DHS in Victoria. I look forward to sharing information with workers in the child protection and early years area at that forum.

The youth consultations held over the last month around Australia have been fantastic. With the help of some dedicated staff and volunteers and with the assistance of the children and young people themselves, we have been able to gain feedback on a range of questions from 25 young people aged 8-12 years and from another 25 young people aged 13-18 years who have a parent with a mental illness.
Well done and thanks to you all.
