COPMI Project Update - 18/7/2003Resources - literatureAn interesting document which has come to my attention and which is available
on the web is "Steps towards evidence-based practices for parents with mental
illness and their families" by B. Hinden, K. Biebel, J. Nicholson, A. Henry
and L.Stier. A recent journal article of interest is "Parents with mental illness: Lacking motivation to parent" by L. Thomas and R. Kalucy which appeared in the International Journal of Mental Health Nursing, (2003) 12, p.153-157. Calling for focus group members re pilot resource materialsThe COPMI project has had a poorer response to surveys regarding the pilot resources (booklets, posters and postcards) than we had hoped for. It is therefore very important that we get as much additional feedback as possible from the focus groups we will be running for family members regarding these resource materials. Anyone involved in running a group with children, parents or young people affected by parental mental illness is most welcome to contact me if you believe your group would be interested in being part of a focus group during late August or early September this year. COPMI e-listA reminder to all that the AICAFMHA Children of Parents with a mental illness (COPMI) List provides the opportunity for in depth discussion on issues surrounding the provision of services to families where a parent is affected by a mental illness. To subscribe to this list, send an email to copmi-request@www.aicafmha.net.au with the word subscribe in the message body. Alternatively, email secretary@aicafmha.net.au stating that you wish to join the COPMI Discussion List. If you are already a subscriber who provides services to children and families affected by parental mental illness, please consider utilising this list to discuss issues relating to your professional practice.
