COPMI Project Update - 27/2/2004

Resource List additions

Thank you to the people who have alerted me to Resource List additions and changes this month. Details of the new book edited by Vicki Cowling, "Children Of Parents With A Mental Illness 2; Personal And Clinical Perspectives" now appear on page 5 of the latest Resource List. Also on that page are the new contact details for purchase of the "Hard Words" video.
I apologise that details of the UK based "Young Minds" website, which includes downloadable information for young people who have a family member with mental illness, were omitted from some previous versions of the Resource List. They are now back on the list, on page 8.

We have also been advised that some workers find the cartoon-illustrated books from Shrink-Rap Press useful for explaining mental illness to older children and adults. Details of relevant books published by this group can be found on page 3 of the current Resource List.

Preparation of up-to-date Resource Lists for our new website for workers.

One of the resources developed and pilot-tested as part of the COPMI project has been a website where people working with children of parents with a mental illness and their families can access relevant information to support their work. The site will also contain resource lists and information about relevant programmes in each state. (This information is currently available on this site.)

Please help us to ensure that, when the new website is launched, we have the most up-to-date information available. Please advise us of any changes to existing programmes or about new programmes and tell us about resources that you may have found useful in your work with children and families affected by parental mental illness.

We do not have a launch date as yet for the website, booklets and "Principles and Actions" document but anticipate it will be in late April. Therefore please get your revised/new programme and resource information in to me before April.

Thanks so much for your help in this matter.
