COPMI Project Consumer/Carer Update - 21/09/2002

Hello to Everyone involved with the COPMI Project

Hasn't time just flown by? I want to say a big Thank You to everyone who has participated in the consultation sessions and to all involved in the Project from Elizabeth, Phil, Sue, Parents, Young People and Professionals throughout all the various sectors. It has been a huge learning curve for me and I am constantly amazed by the amount of work that has been undertaken. Credit must go to Elizabeth Fudge who has undertaken a majority of the work; flying, phoning, typing, referencing and running at times.

The Discussion Document has now gone out for people to read and respond to. Please take the time to do so, you may not feel that it is all relevant to you or your group but we ask you to make comment, even if it is on one specific area.

I am in awe at the amount of support and goodwill we have received and feel strongly that as a project we could not ask for better. I am aware of new projects and funding received in other states, and this gives us at COMIC hope that we are now moving in a positive direction. We are keen to see all the resources, programs and skills being bought together at a national level so that we are united on the children's issues and contributing towards families throughout Australia.

On a personal note, having grown up never being acknowledged or even having my view taken into consideration I am now feeling that recognition is beginning to occur, I would love to believe that there are children out there who will be experiencing this sooner than later. As we all work together, I believe it will be sooner!! Once again, Thank You.

Yours in caring
Paola
Co-convenor COMIC
