AICAFMHA News

The latest Children of Parents with a Mental Illness National Initiative project update is now online. News about the national consultation group and an invitation to nominate people/organisations to this matrix are included along with details of the Brisbane consultation.

There is now a COPMI Project site incorporated into the AICAFMHA website. Visit the site for all the latest details.

The new membership year is upon us! Existing and previous AICAFMHA members will receive their subscription papers in the mail shortly. An application form and membership details are also available online at http://www.aicafmha.net.au/membership/ . Prospective members will be please to note the reduction in fees this year to $38.50 for professionals/organisations and $22 for consumers/carers/young people/students. Your financial support enables us to better support you.

AICAFMHA has been fortunate to secure some additional funding from the Commonwealth for a third print run of the Children of Parents Affected by a Mental Illness Scoping Project Report. These additional reports are now available. People interested in acquiring a copy should contact Sue Garvin (secretary@aicafmha.net.au) with the appropriate details.

Apologies to those of you having difficulty subscribing or posting to either of the AICAFMHA News or Discussion Lists. There are some problems with the Yahoo! host server. We are in the process of changing over to our own list serve which should resolve any problems!

What’s On?

This week in Brisbane will be the Third International Conference on Child and Adolescent Mental Health (3rd ICCAMH). It promises to be a large and exciting event. AICAFMHA will be there presenting about the COPMI Project, facilitating a consumer symposium, and promoting the association and the involvement of consumers/carers/young people in mental health promotion and prevention of mental health problems. We look forward to seeing you there!

$600,000 Coalition Government funding to kickstart the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth was announced today by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Larry Anthony. View release or download word file.
