The AICAFMHA Board of Directors is delighted to announce that AICAFMHA has been granted full membership of IACAPAP (International Association for Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions). This is a highly prestigious group for the association to be associated with and we look forward to further developing this international relationship.

Go to the most recent update on the Children of Parents with a Mental Illness National Initiative. The latest version (12/7) of the COPMI Project Resource list is now online. Subscribers are welcome to review and comment. Also contains links to the literature review and launch of the COMIC Supporting Families Kit.

The 7th National Rural Health Conference is to be held at the Grand Chancellor in Hobart Tasmania from 1 - 4 March 2003. Registration for the Conference will be available in September 2002. Mental Health News

On Wednesday 10th July, parents, carers, children, friends, family members and service providers attended the launch of the COMIC Family Support Kit at the Adelaide Botanical Gardens, where they heard via poetry, song and personal stories of the journey of COMIC (Children of Mentally Ill Consumers/Parents) and the development of the Kit.
The kit contains helpful checklists for both mental health workers and parents, which covers all the key issues, a resource list and an evaluation sheet.

National Mental Health Week 2002 will take place from Sunday October 6 - Saturday October 12. Stress Less Day will be on Wednesday October 9 and World Mental Health Day will be on Thursday October 10.

The Clearinghouse on International Developments in Child, Youth and Family Policies at COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY
The Clearinghouse provides cross-national, comparative information about the policies, programs, benefits and services available in the advanced industrialized countries to address child, youth, and family needs. Coverage focuses on 23 advanced industrialized countries. Expansion to other countries and other parts of the world is planned.
