AICAFMHA: promoting mental health for young Australians

In response to requests and discussion on the
AICAFMHA Discussion List, the AICAFMHA Board wrote to Minister Ruddock stating the
associations position with regard to asylum seekers. Both the letter and the
response from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs are now on the
website at http://www.aicafmha.net.au/4members/SIGs/discussions/
.
AICAFMHA attended the recent Mental Health Council of Australia (MHCA)
Annual General Meeting and was successful in gaining a position on the MHCA Board. We will
provide updates of news/activity through News in Brief.

A call for contributions for
the 8th Trans-Tasman Community Psychology Conference: Working Towards Inclusive Communities: From Rhetoric to
Reality Hosted by Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia, 27th - 29th June 2002. This is an international
conference, aimed at encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as participation
from community members, advocates, practitioners, policy-makers and other stakeholders.The conference will centre on the exploration of
power and inequality in our communities. Abstracts need to be received by 1st March, 2002.Contributions or further inquiries can be
