Child Trends DataBank- The Child Trends DataBank is an online resource of indicators of child
and youth well-being. The What Works section of their website has been
expanded to include more links to information about programs and
interventions that influence the development and well-being of young
children, as well as additional tables about which programs work for youth.

Children's Health, the Nation's Wealth: Assess'g and Improv'g Child Health- Despite substantial progress in improving children?s health, communities vary considerably in the ways they address their collective commitment to children and their health. This results in part from a lack of appreciation of the short- and long-term implications of suboptimal health and in part from the fact that the nation?s systems for monitoring and optimizing the health of its children are inadequate.

Congressional Report on Inappropriate Incarceration of Children- The report, charges
that "Some youth are placed in detention without any criminal charges
pending against them, solely to wait for community mental health
services to become available. In other cases, youth with mental illness
who have been charged with crimes are incarcerated only because no
mental health treatment is available." The report also reveals that
warehousing of children with mental health needs costs U.S. taxpayers nearly $100 million each year.

Helping Children and Teens Living With Mentally Ill Parents- Children living with a mentally ill parent are faced with challenges their peers will probably never be able to relate to. Research has shown that children of affectively ill parents have a 40 percent chance of experiencing an episode of major depression by age 20, and by the age of 25 this rate increases to 60 percent.
