Investing in Children & Families- Research on Canadian children and families is a major priority of the Applied Research Branch. Some of the projects in these areas focus on growing up in Canada, vulnerable children, readiness to learn, stressed-family functioning, single parent families, changed patterns of child rearing, the effect of unemployment and other key factors affecting children.

Needs Assessment Report on Child & Adolescent Mental Health- About a quarter of Scotland?s population is under the age of 19, about
10% of them, 125,000 young people, have mental health problems resulting in difficulties with their thoughts, their feelings, their behaviour,
their learning, their relationships, on a day to day basis.
In 2000, the Scottish Executive commissioned the Scottish Needs Assessment Programme
(SNAP) to provide a report on the
mental health of children and young people in Scotland.
