The Australian Infant, Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health Association Ltd (ABN 87 093 479 022) is committed to protecting the privacy of it's members, contacts, subscribers and associates. The AICAFMHA is bound by and abides by the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) contained within the Privacy Act.

Maintaining the privacy of your personal information is important to us and we conduct our business with attention and regard to maintaining the security of your details while providing the best possible service through access to appropriate information.

If you believe your privacy has been compromised, please view our complaints procedure to have your concerns addressed.

What information do we collect and how?

AICAFMHA collects information about individuals and organisations to facilitate its networking function. Information is collected through membership applications, participant details from AICAFMHA events such as conferences, and through incidental contacts with individuals making requests for information and/or involvement with the association. Information is primarily collected directly from an individual or organisation through their contact or correspondence with the association. AICAFMHA does not solicit unnecessary or irrelevant personal information.

Personal information about you which may be collected by AICAFMHA includes:

  • Contact details - name, address, phone, email, fax
  • Professional interests - areas of expertise, interest, specialisation
  • Membership status - financial member status, previous membership status
  • Participation level - interest in active involvement in the association, special areas of interest for involvement
  • Email list subscription - email addresses subscribed to any of the AICAFMHA news or discussion lists

Why is the information collected and how is it used?

AICAFMHA collects the above information for its primary purpose, that is, to enable and/or facilitate networking and information sharing between individuals, groups and/or organisations with interests in the areas of infant, child, adolescent and family mental health.

Information is used by the association to maintain contact with individuals and to provide appropriate information which may include details of events of interest, mental health news and news about the association and it's activities.

Do you have to provide the information requested?

You are not required to provide any personal information to the AICAFMHA that you do not wish to do so. Naturally, the provision of some services and transactions necessitate the disclosure of personal information such as contact details. Individuals chosing to with-hold information may find that the association is unable to process certain requests.

Disclosure of personal information

Any information collected by AICAFMHA is held under strict security and only available to access by appropriate AICAFMHA staff.

From time to time, AICAFMHA receives requests from related organisations for details of individuals who may have an interest in a particular event, resource or such. Where practicable, AICAFMHA will undertake to distribute such details to its contacts on behalf of the requesting organisation. Where this is not possible, or practical, AICAFMHA may release information of the Contact details type to a requesting organisation on the understanding that this information is for the express purpose detailed in the request.

AICAFMHA members have the oppotunity to 'opt out' of consenting to the release of any type of information when completing their membership application form. Where consent is withdrawn, information about events, resources and such will only be provided through AICAFMHA.

Accessing your personal information

AICAFMHA respects your right to know what information we collect/hold about you and amend this information as appropriate. You can contact the association at any time to determine the extent and accuracy of all of your own personal information. Information for non-members and list subscribers

Non members who wish to check whether AICAFMHA holds any personal information about them, or individuals wanting to withdraw consent for any release of details should contact the association by email or by phoning 08 8132 0786.

Email address details of individuals subscribed to any of the AICAFMHA news or discussion email lists are held solely by the association and are not made available to any third party or organisation at any time.
